Gerardo Alva Chávez, LPCC #14770

Saludos, my name is Gerardo. Whatever the reason(s) may be that you sought help, I am glad that you are here now. I can understand how seeking therapy services can be scary and confusing - believe me, I’ve been there before. Funny thing is, I decided to become a therapist after meeting a mental health counselor who impacted my life for the better.

A little about me: I consider myself a person who is forthcoming with my flaws as much as I am with my strengths, it is my humanity. And that is the foundation of my work as your therapist. I do the work that I do because I believe that every life is a story worth telling. I am passionate about helping people find their voice and at times, re-write their story, for the first time or for the millionth time. That's because I stand with the following: you are not the problem. The problem is the problem. As you read this today I invite you to step back from whatever is disrupting your life and give yourself the chance to heal, grow, and simple be.

I have over 7 years of serving my community in the areas of education and mental health. My expertise includes: family/couples, working with youth (kids and teenagers), the LGBTQ+ community, and grief. I love working with people and guiding them in re-creating a better life story. My therapy approach is a blend of Narrative Therapy, Multicultural Counseling, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. What do these terms mean? They mean that I look at individuals, couples, families, and communities from a perspective of strength, hope, and possibilities. So if you are ready to do the work, I invite you to reach out today. I'll be here when you're ready.
