Cristal Salcido Najar, ND, APCC#17917

Cristal’s story begins in Indio, California, where she was born and raised. As the first in her family to pursue higher education, she has always been driven by a passion to give back and make a difference in the lives of others.

After graduating from La Quinta High School, Cristal earned her associate degree in Biology from College of the Desert and her bachelor’s degree in Chicano Studies from UC Riverside. Her journey into mental health began with a heart full of hope and a commitment to serving those who need it most. During an internship with the Regional Access Project Foundation, she created the foundation for a youth mental health app, later transformed into the “What’s Up” App by SafeHouse of the Desert. This experience solidified her desire to bring accessible mental health support to her local community.

Cristal’s compassion for families led her to work with the Latino Commission Counseling Center, where she coordinated the Strengthening Families Program. In this role, she worked closely with families in Mecca, Thermal, Coachella, and Desert Hot Springs to foster resilience, strengthen parenting skills, and create healthier, happier homes. Watching families connect and grow through the program fueled her determination to continue making a lasting impact.

Cristal later pursued advanced training at Bastyr University San Diego, where she earned dual degrees as a Naturopathic Medical Doctor and Professional Clinical Counselor. Her education reflects her belief in whole-person care—blending mental health and physical wellness to help clients find balance and healing.

At her core, Cristal is someone who cares deeply about the people she serves. She believes in meeting clients where they are, working together to create tangible goals that lead to lasting change. Her work is more than a career; it’s her way of giving back to the Coachella Valley, the community that shaped her. For Cristal, every client represents an opportunity to bring hope, healing, and a brighter future to the place she calls home.

Outside of work, Cristal enjoys spending time with her husband and best friend, Erik, attending music and art festivals, dancing, and going on hikes. On Sunday mornings, you can find her at her home parish, St. Francis of Assisi in La Quinta, or appreciating other parishes while traveling.
